"Quant’è bella giovinezza,
che si fugge tuttavia!
Chi vuol esser lieto, sia:
di doman non c’è certezza.

Fair is youth, ah, that is certain
Youth that flies, us all forsaking!
Happiness is there for taking:
For tomorrow nothing is certain."

Valentino Haute Couture S/S 2013, Julia Nobis x Apotheosis of the Rose by Joseph Stella

Joseph Stella was an artist who painted Futurism and Precisionism - the latter style being that of this painting. In alignment with that Valentino is a master of precision in the world of Haute Couture and the tailoring of this dress displays a magnificent, understated elegance that betrays the effort spent on what seems to be a white piece of fabric, but really isn’t at all. In contrast Stella’s precisionism is far more opulent, but just as beautiful.
